1970
Olds Toronado GT, 400 HP V8 front wheel drive, 455 cubic inch Rocket V8.
The GT is a rare 1970 Toronado option (W34). The
W34 option provides an additional 25 horsepower from the 455 by using
larger intake valves, dual exhaust, a performance cam and a higher stall
speed torque converter similar to a W30 442 option in a rear drive Olds.
The compression ratio is 10.25:1. The
final drive ratio is 3.07:1. This car is very fast. With 400
front drive horsepower, and its low stance there is nothing else like it. The
result is a unique luxury-muscle coupe. Unique because it combines 400 hp
with front-wheel drive, resulting in the most hp per pound of any
production FWD car until the Cadillac Allante.
Of the 25,433 Toronados built in 1970, only 5,341 were Toronado GT models.
The GT provided a 455 cu V8 of 400 hp, up 25 hp from the standard 455. A
400165 performance cam and special torque converter gave this Toronado
0-60 times of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 135 mph. Dual exhaust with a
notched rear bumper and the GT hood badge, further identify the GT.
Other
factory options on this car include power windows, cruise control,
tilt steering, power seats and stereo 8-track player all in working
condition. The car also has
factory air conditioning. We purchased this car in 1999 from the
family that bought it new.
An auxiliary
transmission cooler and Bosch quartz halogen headlights fed
directly from the alternator via twin relays have also been added.
There is no indication that a trailer hitch has ever been installed.
This
car is located near Kelowna British Columbia Canada and could be delivered
to Washington State.

This car has been well maintained including recent
ball joints, fuel pump, alternator, brake system, water and fuel pump. The
engine sounds like new, makes no smoke, and uses no oil. The
car is driven regularly over local mountain passes and can travel
anywhere.
The body tag reads: ST 70 39687 EUC70969 BDY, next line is: TR ZO 82 46
A PNT, then 10 B.
The tag on the transmission is black and reads: 70 OM 2667.
The
car is all original except for paint and is rust free. It had some
metal replaced at the wheel openings before being painted by a local body shop
several years ago. The vinyl top shows some deteriation upon closer
examination. The original seats, carpet and interior
are in excellent condition.
